Default Great night new friends

I was a great night to be out swordfishing and the 30 boats I could see would agree.I think just about every sword boat from Miami to Jupiter was out.I got a ride with Mark and his friend Erny on his boat Nauti Girl.Barry Flatsfish called me to go and Mark invited him as well.I can not go in to all the details right now but we were 1 for 2 a nice fat 57in in the boat and lost a 80in +++.The big fish hit the 200ft jug rocketed to the surface then swam right under the boat.It swam right between Mark and I and we both thought it was going to hit the bottom of the boat.It was a very big fish.We fought it 30min or more only to pull the hooks. We are sure it was bill wrapped and that is fishing. But it hurts to have seen such a big fish only not to get it. Mark and Erny are two super nice guy's and I can not wait to fish with them again. So all in all a great night we had fun and made new friends and that is what this is all about.

Sounds like a great night. Sorry to hear about the big girl getting away.
Those are the fish that keep you coming back time and time again.

I had phone relay of your battle, I was very sad to hear the outcome. Come on Quack.......no rods in the water till harpoon is set up Just kidding .....it all happens so fast......the big ones always come check out who is messing with them. Talked to Barry late night sounded like good people on a sick boat Congrats on the other fish.

Harpoon was setup, But it was on the bow and the fish swam under mi ship(20ft away) But it happend so fast. I looked out and i see a purple LP racing across the surface, And i screamed LP up!!! And the fish came straight into the boat and right under it and everyone was on awe. We got the lines from under the motors and all the gear cleared like clock work. And started the motors and chased her down. I was on the rod (I wish i wasn't ) And the fish just did what she wanted. I bumped the drag up at first but I did not make a differance. She went straight down and dumped over half the spool on a 80w. She was digging hard, the rod was bowed over and then she just pulled. The leader came up chaffed from the bill 4-5'' from the hook. My last biggest fish was 77'' and did the exact same thing through the sword light. I am not going to make the matter worse but I would bet a 80w the fish was bigger then QQ is guestimating. She was 4' wide Sorry i'm sick. It is one thing to have a long battle on a big "fish" and loose it, but its worste to see what you are fighting right off the bat. i WILL not stop until i find her again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a better note, The trip was great, Baddddddest boat on the water! The crew did great for our first time fishing together and everything went smooth (well after we realized the wind was non existant!) Thanks again for the trip!!

Good report/picts Flatsfish (would have been sweet to stab her with your new harpoon)

Anyone have a name/phrase for that moment of silence when you lose a biggie?

Upon further review of the 300 and 400lb club.I think it might have been closer to 400lbs. I bet Marks better half would have wipped that fish before it got away.

and by tomorrow it'll be 600 lol .

Nice work guys! We crushed the pups! As Barry said, that seems the the norm on the emijess(I wonder if fishing the light a little further away on all the rods would help hmmmm...)

800lbs at least because when they get away you can make them as big as you want. come on Nick 10ft is far enough for 2 lights to be from the bait.
