Default 11/11 1 for 3

Headed out for second sword trip on the "Cobia" with no success. Still looking to crisin the boat with blood. First line in at 7:30. At 8pm we start to hear one of the 50's drag slightly then stop. So I touch the line and feel slack. Start reeling and get tight with fish on (Famous Nick C squid). Hand the rod off, get harnessed up and get the rod back and strapped in. 10 minutes later the fish pops off. I reel the line in to find the snap swivel completely straighted out (400lb). Send that line back down. then about 10pm we hear that same reel again, and stopped. Dad start to bring it in to see if the squid is slashed and gets tight on the second fish. Start to fight the fish and the hook pulls. A few seconds later we saw the small pup in the hydro glow chasing squid. Decide to go set up one more time. At about 11:30 we are thinking about pull the lines in but decide to leave the baits in the water for a few more minutes. At 11:45, I see the deep line with a live runner on it bouncing. I tell one the guys (Russ) to look the bait is getting nervous. At the same time we hear a big splash, look to the other side of the boat and see a sword going nuts. Non-forum member on boat says get a bait out to him and all of a sudden we see the purple LP. I start to reel in all slack in the line while Russ goes to get the harness on and it breaks. So he puts on the regular belt and takes the rod. We boat a 53" fish. Not the biggest fish but the boat's and Russ's first.

After this trip I will be purchasing a new better harness and new swivel's (Any input?).

A very good trip. Not bad. 1 for 3 for a bunch of rookies. Hooked on the darkside! Haven't done any daytime fishing in over a month.

great work guys, always good to hear the rookies put one in the boat, gives hope to the rest of us. Hi Catch type snap closure with a small loop on the mono. or crimp directly.

Nice fish fellas. Aussie escape proof swivels are the way to go.
I like the 300lbers they seem really stout.
Take care,
Butch

Can you find them at any tackle shop? I go to Lott Bros, and Grand Slam and haven't seen them? Can you find them online?

Finest Kind is where I found them. They are located in stuart, near sandsprit park. Give Tek a call @ reel Pro Shops he may be able to hook you up. Tuppens also may have em .
Good Luck,
DF2
