Yeah it beat Mike up bad --- it did not measure up to what we reported on the radio -- measured 57. I was little help -- a bit sea sick.

Yeah yeah, that is the fish that beat me up. The fish fought pretty good. The main problem that I was having was that I did not get into the harness made for the long bent butt rods. Everytime I would reach for the harness, it seemed like the line would go slack, so I just had to stay on the fish until he got close to the boat. At that point, rod had to come out of the rod holder. Cogzwell was the nominated gaffer since there was only the two of us. The fish came within 3 ft. of calling it a quick "Coupe de grace". But we couldn't get that shot, so that is when the tuff work started. I put the rod into a holder whenever it was away from the boat but I had to handle it every time it turned. So that is the part where this fish was kicking my butt: no harness, no gimbal, just an 80 wide and my crotch. The boat was drifting so we had to work the fish around the boat as the fish pleased. Had to drop the rod tip below the surface a few times with drag backed-off a bit to get back into the better boat position. A few more back and forths and I finally got the fish close enough so Cozwell could place the gaff into a nice head shot. So it was a tough little fish when you are not wearing any harness equipment or gimbal. That fish was a good work-out for a weeknight warrior.

We had some sword steaks last night at a friend's house where we celebrated my birthday as a party. They came out great. And they don't taste like Mako steaks neither.

P.S. - My birthday wish was to go to the Bahamas next week. Somehow that wish has been granted, now if only the weather gods have tuned into the same channel.
