Default World Record Broken...

Last Wednesday night my buddy mating on a Private sport fisherman final got the break they were looking for. I know the week before they had caught 2 smaller swords that were keepers. But that wednesday night was there night as they broke the previous record on 8pd set in 1986 at 109pds. They fished a 138pd swordy AND YES... on 8pd ! Remarkable, I dont know the full legistics to what boat and who else aboard but I do know that it was captured.

That wednesday night was the night to be out there from what all the reports have shown, he also told me about a 250-300# slob being boarded over the radio. I also heard from a very good source that Capt Ollie had an impressive night as well with a approx. 15 catches with a few slobs himself. As a matter a fact I was with "my source" early thursday morning catching bait for a tourny and get a call from his buddy at 6am explaining the night he had. which consisted of missing one pulling a hook on another release an 80#/100-120#/200#/200-230#... and keeping a 300+ slob..... and to make this storey even better they left the fishing grounds at 9:15pm that night, believe it or not.

Great to hear that there are some Slobs out there around this time of year, considering the fact.... Wednesday night was the night, the one night in between the blowing all week before that it was blowing died for that night and picked up on thursday night or friday.

The ladies 6lb test record was broken recently too...

Look for 20lb tippet Mens flyrod record to be shattered soon too...

The record we set in 1986 was for one of my anglers, Jerry Dunaway on The Hooker.

This 138 lb fish was caught by angler Gary Carter and Tony DiGuilian (SESC member) was the mate.

They caught 4 fish out of 6 bites. 3 on 8 lb and one small fish on 6 lb. I have fished Gary Carter and he is a very good angler.

Congratualtions to the entire crew and angler.

Skip
