Last night (9/29) was sort of slow for me down south. The seas were fair, about 2-3' and only saw an occasional 4'er when we got caught on the edge of a small cell moving through. I guess once you make the bend around towards the Keys the winds and seas can be decidedly different than on the 50 line to the north. We caught 1 small pup and had 1 bait slashed up without even a click of the reel. The 2 guys I fished were happy because they got to see a live Swordfish and one added the catch to his fish list. They were also optimistic because they were fishing with me again tonight.
Tonight (9/30) started off with me almost pulling the plug. The weather was crap with driving rain and winds until about 4:30 PM. The front must have finally pushed through because the skies were clearing and the wind laid down. The seas were an honest 3' but the ride was very comfortable. We got to my drift spot at dusk around 7:30 and I put out 4 lines and within 2-3 minutes the 300' tip rod had a Sword on. Again tonight, it was a small pup but the other guy popped his cherry now also. I tossed on another bait and as I was dropping it back down, the 250' line went off. The hooks pulled on that one and we lowered it and fastened the jug and BAM, all he!! broke loose. We had all 4 rods light up within a matter of minutes of each other. The 150' line came in with the leader cut, the 200' line was slashed, the 300' line slashed again and the 250' line hooked up. After clearing all lines, we fought this fish for about 15-20 minutes and the 54" fish was boatside. They decided they wanted to keep this fish and we put it on board. I was shocked that after only 1 hr of fishing they said they were happy and ready to go in. WHAT?!!!! Yes sir! While we ran in all I could think was that this could've been that night you dream of. Oh well, their choice! Back at the dock with calm winds and cleaning fish at 10:00. Capt. Jim The BEAST |

GhostRider,
The boat name is obviously "The BEAST". If your asking what brand name boat it is (?) The BEAST is a 330TE WorldCat with 225 Hondas. Capt. Jim The BEAST |
