Default Big Sword Northeast

This weekend plenty of swords were caught up here in the northeast on the full moon. Most fish were 50-120 lbs. At about 3:00 the radio lit up with one boat screaming and chanting about a MONSTER sword they just landed. The fish was around 600 lbs on a 50. The captain said they were on the fish for 6 hours.

Does anybody else have information of this fish like its exact size?

nightbite,

Welcome to the forum.

There's a few current/former Montauk boys hanging around here.

What boat/marina are you at?

Welcome

I have been living in Miami for five years. From NYC, fished Montauk for years from seasonal house in Sag Harbour. Never targeted the swords there and regret. Miss the stripers though. Hard to beleive that a 600lb. was cought on a 50. Cought a 280 on an 80 two weeks ago and took three and a half hours. Stale mated for most of the time. Was fishing off Bimini. Montaulk has shallow waters compared to the local waters here and the Bahamas. Hard to believe that the swords are within miles of the light. Nothing like the easter part of LI. Good luck!!!!!

There was a 270, but I have not heard of a 600. If it happened I am sure I will. :thumleft:

534# on a 50? If that's true... it really makes ya wonder what size fish was on the other end of that 11.5 hour battle on an 80.

Have been in some insane Big eye bites up there, both early and late in the season. That's a long way for us. So I should also add I have got my a** kicked up there both early and late in the season.

Shinnecock, I used to work on a commercial troll, chunk boat, and a Long liner or two.

Has the Bay been getting any better? We have a little Giant bite going on here now.
