Default Swordfishing report Charleston SC w/Questions

Hey for the past couple years more people have been swording up here as well. We are becoming addicted to the Darkside. We have gone twice this month the first trip caught a 50#(released) on the 50ft jug, a 150#(dried out) on the 150ft jug, and a 200lbs(released) on the 250ft tip rod. We also pulled the hooks on 3 others and caught 5 sharks. The bite only lasted about 4 hours while the moon was up. Then this last week we lost one under the lights and caught 15+ sharks. Most boats have been catching 1 a night with average of two shots
What experiences have you guys had as to bites and moon visibility? We had little moon on the second trip and little sucess. Also has anyone been using mullet, my friends from South America say it is thier best daytime sword bait
We are now running charters and have booked some for September we have to be a little more cautious here becasue we have to run 60 miles, so it limits us due to weather and time. Our trips are not evening trips, we make them 18 hours so we can troll morning and evening.
Thanks for any info!
Michael

The brighter the moon, "usually" the deeper the bite...

The nights when it is dark "new moon" we see fish closer to the surface...

Sounds like a lot of sharks in the area...

Do you have a light at the boat? such as swordlight?
