Today in school?.....I have more commen sense than other people so I figured out what the words were linked to evanescent. We were given br_ _ _ and temp_ _ _ _ _. I checked it out and came up with brief and temporary. Ding ding ding, I got it before everyone else went to search it up on the computer. So I went back and checked the forum out to see what was going on. When the two chicks next to me saw Beerman's avatar they looked at me and asked me what the hell I was looking at. I laughed and continued surfing through. After class one of them was talking to me and got pissed off because she got interrupted twice by another girl saying hi. If she can't deal with it that's her problem, because that's how I roll :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

That fish was fought for about 20 minutes as we stepped the drag up due to a crazy squall a 100 yards from the boat

Yep that is what I thought, jealous chicks, I 'm sure they saw your pic with the sword. On the subject of the sword, did you gaff the fish or poon it, was it still green ?

They loved the pics with the sword ....We pooned it and unlike every other fish we have had, this one did a little bit of thrashing and trying to get away. Then he woke up and realized his dream wouldn't come true of swimming away so he threw in the towel and gave up. This fish was similar to one of the pups we released, which left us a sweet battle scar by wacking the nice blue hull lol

SOGGY wet feet suck. Wet, well aired out feet aren't bad at all. In 8 years of chartering, I've found Island Pro flip flops to be great. They're the only thing I wear on the boat, unless it's Nov-Feb, when we do little-to-no chartering anyway. Island Pro's have never blistered my feet, have great traction on the bottom (I can walk up the front of the boat---to the fly bridge--and not slip), and only cost about $22/pair.

I believe their website is www.islandslipper.com or something similar.

The People Mover's are awesome as well, not as great grip, but the most comfortable thing out there, Just like the croc but softer. LOVE EM

Hey, R33, did you decide on what reels to get 80w or 50w, have you looked at the Alutecnos, they make a 50w with more capacity than the 50w Shimano and it weighs less.

What did you do with the TLD that broke apart, did you sent it to Shimano, curious because I have some TLD's also and would like to know if they gave you a new reel, What reel were you using on that 71", mono or braid line, drag #?

Got the reel situation solved at the shop.

71 " fish was caught on the TLD 50 with 50lb mono. Drag was at around 16 strike and we stepped it up a little due to crazy storm arriving quickly.

This fish was also foul hooked

Impressive catch, 20 min with 50 mono, good angling skills and good boat work made that happen. Did you have to chase the fish or fight it dead boat. Where was it foul hooked? Do you think the fish missed the bait or did it spit it out and got snagged? Just your opinion?

Motors were started and lines were in, especially when we realized what kind of weather we had coming for us. Didn't chase it, the fish was straight down except when it jumped on the surface and sat there for a minute. It was hooked in the back, I'm extrmely surprised that it was foul hooked because of how it took the bait, one shot we had right befoe broke off and immediately after that (less than a second) the front tip started screaming. This was the fish we caught. I think something happened where the fish got stuck in the back, could have wacked it and got hooked immediately. I wasn't underwater watching the bait, so I can't tell you.

On the TLD, check your drag right after you catch a big fish. I heard you can lose drag during a fight. We use Penn 50 and 80 VSIIs on our boat, but I fish with friends who use TLDs. They are REEL nice for standup, but you can actually feel the drag back off on a big fish.

Was his hand hitting the drag lever occasionally? It happened to me a few times, not all the way down but just off of strike while I was fighting the fish.

It was me actually... I had to thumb the reel in order to gain on him. He was only about 120#s. The longer I fought him the worse it got. A buddy of mine was on the boat who works at a tackle shop and he said its common for the TLD to back off. We use TLD20s sailfishing, but the fight is obviously much shorter.
