Default SATURDAY NIGHT 2/4

We had a very good night Saturday started slow but we got our first fish around 9:25 after about a 8 mile drift over the southern grounds.I was getting ready to reset when the tip rod gets wacked and the fight was on reeled up a foul hooked 50 inch sword after 2 hours I have caught foul hooked fish before but never a sword. The hooks tore threw the gill plate and snaged its side almost tore a six inch chunk of flesh from the fish. The second fish came at 2:30 we were all set to pack it in all rods were up and the hyda-glow was in the boat when the tip rod I had left in the water gets smoked much bigger fish with a good 150 yard first run at almost full drag.I have not tested my drag but will report on the setting tomarrow fought the fish hard at full drag for an hour and a half at 4 am fish comes up and we stick her pretty fat fish we put her on the scale at the house and she hit 150 with her tail still on the ground.Terriaki Swordfish tasted great for dinner and Im ready for the next fish looking for the 200lb so I can join the club.I am a little pissed off about not being part of the tournament but it would have been a strech to make weigh in from our location but we will take part next year for sure.

Sounds like an awesome night, that foul hooked fish is a perfect example of what could've been a pulled hook.

Look at it in the gallery and right click on it. Then go down to properties where you can copy the url (with .jpg at the end) If you want it this size then click on it and then copy the url. If you want the thumbnail then copy the url before you click on the pic

Nice catch! That fish obviously would of won the tourney... But thats how it goes... Odds are always much better when you dont dish out the risk.

Nice catch and she looks every bit of 150 to me.

Both of our fish, Thursday and Friday night would've clearly won the tourney. My Dad said the exact same thing, "that's how it goes".

I think both of our fish were over 140. I know the first one was 66" because it took three of us to move it where the 141 two people moved fairly easily. The second fish, 60", had wide shoulders and the same girth all the way to the tail. We think it was over 140 because the 141 was much easier than this as well. The steaks were much bigger than any fish yet and had a orange glow, not pink. hb

How many boats fished the tournament? I thought I saw the first place boat got $8000?
