KQ, good job to you and your crew
I agree with QQ don't fish that reel again until its serviced. I know this because I can see the future it go's something like this.......THE BIGGEST SLOOOOB you have ever seen comes in on the close flat line just out side the light, circles once thru the light then slams the bait then heads for Cuba , thats about the moment you start to ask yourself.........(Kevin ( because thats your name) was this the reel that locked up the last trip out :?: When all of a sudden you hear that sound that cuts through the darkness to the depths of your soul like ......gas prices at the pumps  KAAAAAPOOOW Followed by a big splash, not the fish, but the reel, then theres allot of crying, cussing along with massive amount of drinking . Then again it might be just fine. My magic 8 ball ain't what it use to be.   irat:

Lines In
|
You guys are definitely right. I have to clarify my problem though. The drag plates still would let line out, but when i cranked the handle...it wasnt bringing line back on the spool. We wouldnt have gotten the fish if the drag plates wouldnt let line out.... And it wasnt that the gear shift was stuck either cause I'm sure someone would think that it was stuck between low and high gear.
Anyway...I'm gonna get it checked out. |

i had 2 Avets do the same thing. simply stated they suck! one locked up, and the other came off the reel seat after it locked up.... nothing like watching your reel go slaming into the first guide on your rod.
i called avet and they offered no help, servicing or refund. they simply suck. Shimano for life! never again will i try another brand. on a more positive note, i did sell them on ebay for about the same price i bought them for. Nice fish Kevin. glad to see you guys got a new ride. i will be in town for a while, PM me if you are ever short handed. Robbie |

I hate to say it, but we had the same thing happen to us on our 50... big fish last summer.. fought for over 45 minutes to have the drag lock up... the line immediately snapped (60lb test). Sold the reel to a guy on this forum that said he didnt mind getting it fixed...gave him a nice price.
We also stand by shimano tiagras now... |
