Default Friday Report South Grounds

Put the boat in last night at crandon marina and headed out of bear cut. Decided not to catch live bait and just get out there and start fishing.

We put out 3 squids and a dead cero mackeral. 2 Hours goes by and the cero mackeral gets smoked. Dumping line for a good 5 minutes.

Fought the fish for 2 hours and put her in the boat.

Fish measured 65 inches and I would say about 150 lbs.

This fish kicked our ass on a tiagra 50 wide... was a bit suprised to see the size when she came up...

Headed in and gave some steads to neighbors/friends.

Keep um tight!

Ted,
I was out as well friday with Capt Joe"Chumingwithchunk" We went 0-2 with a big fish kicking our butt for about an hour and fifteen minutes before popping her off. She was a solid fish I must have had a nick in my Jerry Brown spectra and we popped the line. I am gonna give it another shot tomorrow. Congrats on the fish!

Albar1:

Glad to hear you got to go out fishing recently, and with Joe too, but he is always fishing anyhow: but that is what the dedicated do.

You have been awfully quiet lately. Have you been fishing much and not posting or simply holding to land for a while?

Glad to see you hook up with a nice fish, although the line let go. I suppose that was another costly rig, not to mention the fish that got away.

Joe, are you still fishing all your lines JBHC? I have noticed a few recent photos of your fishing trips on the Night Prowler and see all the Tiagras spooled up with blue Mono. Was thinking maybe you switched back to mono for some reason. Let me know, what's up.
