Default Swording report 5-19 1 for 2

The crew was set, Myself and Mate1 were gonna take our better halves out swording for the first time, and what not a better time then the first annual ladies swordfish challenge. Well at the non-meeting I found out that Quack Quack had no ride, and felt bad cancelling on him last week so I made the executive decision that I would DQ myself to take him swording. But then it rang, Keith aka Kelly and his pink crocs and jacket might just be counted as a female anyway! Either way I have had 1 goal in mind for about 3 months now and that was to put Mrs Flatsfish B on her first swordy! After diving this AM I came home and rigged a dozen squid and we all met at the ramp around 5:15. We stopped on my bait spot and jigged up about a half dozen different baits. After finally tipping the sabikis with squid, we we're pulling up stringers at a time. We pointed the bow and headed SE straight into the 1-2' light chop and had a comfortable ride out. We setup a little farther south then normal and decided to work the outside starting our drift on the 49 and getting pushed out. We had a beautiful spread. We had our special live bait on the 50-100' Tip rod. All the other rods had squid and the drift was finally back at 3.7knots compared to the 1.7knots last trip. After about 35 min into the drift we check a couple baits to find the deep float rod was whacked. Then on the radio we hear another boats who's deep rod got hit. About 45 min later somewhere around 10:xx I decide to slowly reel up our livey to throw a LP on him and send him a little deeper. As i can just see the weight in sight i feel a slight tap. It was not as strong as in past but just didn't feel kosher. I stopped reeling to look down to see Mr. Swordy chasing my bait. I drop back and slowly let some line off the reel as i see him do the standard circle around whack whack and finally running off line. I give it a 4 count and set the hook hard and we are off the the races. The fish took a nice first run which made it easier for us to get the rod strapped in to Randis harness. At the beginning of the night I told QQ that they should fight it out of the holder and he said no way "I'd rather have a women who's never caught a sword then a man any day...they listen!" So i agreed and the harness was pre fitted. Once settled in the next 45min or so was a tug-o-war. She would gain some to loose it back back and forth for a while. Randi was getting worn out so she decided to let Jess (Mrs Mate1) give it a go. She had been feeling a little (ok a LOT) Green all night but normally someone snaps out of it when fighting a fish. Not her after about 5 min she said hurry get this off me I'm gonna puke! No faster did i grab that rod! There was no way someone was puking on a tiagra!! (Maybe one of TJ's Penn's :biglaugh: I figured the ladies were done and they quit and it was my turn but absolutely not! Randi wanted back in NOW and got right back on the fish! She finally wore the fish out about 15 min later and it finally came up. The Bill was HUGE much bigger then the avg. 60'' fish and i screamed dart dart!! Mate1 hit the dart shot i grabbed the bill and high fives were given all around! The fish measured 60'' and had a nice belly! The size of the bill originally made me feel it was a 63-65'' fish but I was wrong. After moving back in a little we set back up on the 48 and the 13 and decided to finish off the drift. About 30min later the deep float goes off for a good run but never came tight. We decided our chummer had enough and we would go in and not make the "weigh in" But it was a GREAT night on the 50 especially with friends in other boats just a "fun button" away. Beerman maybe MP3 players do count!! As of the time we left it was the only lady caught keeper fish. Dragon baits had released 3 fish! and that was the only action i heard. The night life had not been to the darkside for over a month and I think she was a little upset it's been that long! Time for bed still gotta work tomorrow night!

This was our verification picture!

3rd female
