We had a good time Thursday night with a crew of 4 guys looking to get on some Swords. Seasflattened out in the stream 1-2 feet, current was 3 knots. We had our first bite on the tip rod that screamed hard and good. Chris was the first up on the rod. The line kept getting slack no matter how tight he came. Here I knew we had a foul hooked fish and sure enough we get him boatside and the hook is caught in his Caudel fin, then wrapped around the upper and lower part of his jaw, then the leader came back around and lassoed itself near the hook again. Total hog tie. Fish was 50 inches.
Next we had another screamer on the 200 squidy. I waited for that moment to strike him and never came tight. That was a downer but it happens. Towards the end of our trip i started messing with the tip rod and like always, when you don't expect it...SLAM, right at the boat. I waited for his return jigging the squid and he came back, ate the squid, ran hard, and the hook pulls. I hate playing with smaller fish. That was it 1 for 3. All our bites came after 10:00pm. Our depth was in the 1200 range getting kicked out on our drift. We had 2 Rainbow Runners and a Blue Runner in the spread that never caught a bite. On a better note i went to the Kenny Chesney concert last night and had a blast. One of the best shows I have ever saw in awhile. Kenny got the crowd goin boy.
