Default Teaser 4/15 report

We went out Pt Everglades and it was a beautiful night ! Seas were calm the sky was clear and all was great ! We set up our spread and were just settling in for a comfy night offshore when it was destroyed. First a fish hit a line and after 20 minutes threw the hook when i had the leader in hand ! Bummer , To make matters worse as soon as i rerigged and settled down again within 10 minutes My sponge bob lterally exploded and again I had to battle the beast . To make stories short after 1hour + 20-30 minutes of 500 yds out 500 yds in tug o war with the beast jumping way out in the moonlight he finally came to the boat . Three of us attempted to lift him from the water and after fabricating a rope to "harness" him were able to lift him over the gunnel on the 3-4 try. Packing ice on him and a thermal blanket we again reset our baits and as I wished a nap and was just handing Rodchucker my spongebob rod when the float again exploded and this beast skyrocketed crashing down and throwing the hook. We hauled the beast home , used a comealong to lift him on the scale and took some pics with the digital and film cameras. Billfisher the other bud videoed the Epic battle and I look forward to watchin it from my lazyboy today. Oh yeah , Weight was laying right on 230 pounds on the scale. Mike , I guess you better add me to the 200+ pound club. The catch was handled superbly with the help of the "Teaser" crew and thanks for a good job goes to them. Randy

Yeah thats him , thanks Verado . Thats Rodchucker sportin that new sword shirt. It's cool. You can see the scale and comealong in the pic. We had to tie the bill up to get a acurate weight , it was too long and we couldnt get it off the floor. They need a A- frame at 15 st ramp. Randy

she was a beast. Capt. Randy fought the battle with no stand up gear. just him and the big girl. no harness, no help, just a chair and some good piloting.

Default So you like the broads, big

Hey Randy, (and the rest of the Teaser team on that fine Saturday night on the EAC):

Congratulation guys. That is a nice sized fish to catch, especially without a harness.

Thanks, for that report. Did you find any Tinkers that night?

I know where you will be on the next Christmas Eve, weather permitting.

Hi RT , negative on the tinkers, We're 14 trips now with 9 keeper , the largest this 230 with a second 175# and i give up on tryin to figure when they bite ! Tinkers no on 230# fish , Tinkers yes 175#er, Full moon 230# no moon 175# , 7 fish in between in 50s " with all types of different conditions. Who can figure ? 11 bites one night , 3 bites another 7 bites next same speed drift , area, moon, west edge distance, wind direction , Who can figure ? Had three serious bite this night , the beast , one i got to the leader and got off and one exploded a sponge bob and jumped throwin the hook and we never saw a tinker. One thing we did notice almost like clockwork when that moon started up and just cleared the horrizon we were imediately hammered. Was that why ? Who can tell. I give up , If a hungry fish swims by and your there you get hit . Best I can do. Randy Ps. Beast had tinkers in his belly but tinkers dont seem to matter , Some of our heaviest bite nights we dont see a tinker and sometimes were covered in them and get hit. Who can tell . I did have my lucky tennis on though !

For whatever reason the moonrise has everything to do with it. I've gotten to the point that I think its pointless to be out there before it rises. I check a website for the times and plan my trips accordingly. It never seems to fail. All four of our hits were shortly after it went past 15 degrees in the sky. If the moon is already up and waning after the full they dont't seem to really turn on till its past about 70 degrees. In my world thats the horizon at 0, directly overhead 90.
This is just my 2 cents and what I have observed over the years.
I also learned that you can't catch them from the dock. If the fish wants to eat and comes across your bait I think its gonna eat even if the moon had fallen from the sky.
