Default 3 for 7 - April 6

Well, with daylights saving time I can now get out after work again.

My sons and I decided to try something different as we have been doing the same thing night in and out on the 50 line or near.

So we decided to try the 52.00 to 53.00 area, much shallower than normal.

We get out the entire spread and have a double header on both our tip rods. We let the jugs out very far and fight both of these fish. The first one comes up wrapped and kicked. About 50 inches or so, and we released the fish after untangling the leader from its body.

The next fish fights about 20 minutes longer and we have a 58 incher in the boat.

While we put this one in the boat, the far jug rod screams and nearly spools us as we already had too much line out. Hooks pulled as we tighted the drag to near full.

2 for 3 so far.

We reset on the 53 line and 26.00 and againt he tip rod gets slammed, but the hooks pulled. We quickly reel up the other tip rod and it gets puched on the way up. This time the fish jumps and charges the boat. The fish gets wrapped in the sea anchor and we lose it.

2 for 5 now.

We reset and the shallow tip rod with a squid gets nailed again and fish off! We reel it up to check it out and the fish followed it, and the the squid wasnt too bad so we freeline it without the weight. FISH ON!!!

30 minutes later a 60 incher in the boat.

Action all night long until midnight.

I wonder if I have been running past good numbers of fish this whole time!!

We are going to try these numbers again tomorrow night to see if it was a fluke or not.

Tightlines

WOW , I was on the 53 and posted the 2/7 a few days ago . I thought it was possibly a fluke ! They are in shallower . I was reading 900ft when we were getting slammed. I wish I had stayed in close last night , I went to 48-51 and got skunked . Excellent job !!! Good call ! Randy

ya we were doing great in shallow. I'm going to try the same area on Saturday night. We didn't have tinkers around the boat, and both swords had a bunch of squid in them.

I'll let me know how we do
