Yeah... me and Quack Quack were out on the Emijess. We were in contact with Polar and Headfirst most of the evening. I think we set up around the 26.04. We headed in around 11, so didn't hear anything about a close-call with a tanker.

Slow night. Sounds like we did better than average, releasing a rat and bringing home a 48 that was DOA. Polar's son ended a 3-hour battle by boating a 61".

I was out Saturday on the Emijess again, and Sunday with Another Grand. No evidence of swords at all.

That same tanker almost ran me over as well. Probably passed just east of me atless than 100 yards. A little closer than I would like. I had the motors running and was ready to pull some evasive manuvers. If he would have passed to my west I think he would have definiely cut my two long baits. The vibration of his engines actuaully woke my buddy sleeping in the cabin.
I ran out of Everglades way south to Miami to fish on of my favorite spots on about the 52. Apparently it's some other peoples favorite spot as well. I found a spot to squeeze in and started to set out my spread. With 2 newbies on board I was hoping for a good night. My first bait goes out, blue runner, 25 feet, no sinker. It doesn't make it 50 feet from the boat before my mate tells me I think we got a hit. I look over from clipping on a squid and see my float disappear. I grab the rod wait till the line is flying off the spool, push up the lever and bam were on. I hate when this happens with newbies on board cause then you gotta try and explain that being hooked up to a sword within 2 minutes isn't an everynight occurence. Anyway, my mate harnesses up his buddy and I hand him the rod and the fight is on. I had the drag kinda light and the fish wasn't putting up much of fight. About 10 minutes later we boat and release a 46 1/2 inch pup. Needless to say my angler was thrilled to have his first billfish, and the fact that it sword made it even better. I go ahead and reset my drift on the exact same spot and hopes are high for more of the same action. Unfortunately it never happend again. I stayed on that drift for 2 hours ending up on the 50. Then I moved out to the 48, drifted there for an hour and a half ending up on the 46...nothing. My next move was way inside to the 55 for another hour and a half drift, ending out on the 53. By then it was 4 in the morning and getting crappy. Pulled the gear and rode for home. I think I was one of the last if not THE last boat to stick it out that long.
There were alot of boats out there to start and the radio was very quiet all night. Anyone else get a fish?

I was out there on Friday night with a friend, we saw that tanker come out of no where, too close for out taste. We had a good night, 2 for 3 on swords. One 44" (released), one at 52” and we pulled the hook on the third one, not by choice, but maybe for the best since we were already hooked up with the second, and only two of us in the boat. All bites were deep 300, 250 and 300. Rough ride in the way back in.
