Default 2/2 LAST NIGHT. 3/1/06

IF YOU DIDN'T GO LAST NIGHT, YOU MISSED A GOOD ONE. SHOT OUT JUST NORTH OF THE 26 AND OUT JUST PAST THE 50 LINE. NOTICED THAT MOST BOATS HEADED FOR HOME BEFORE 11:30 PM. LAST 2 TIMES OUT, THE BITE TURNED ON AROUND MIDNIGHT. CAUGHT ONE KEEPER AND ONE PUP (RELEASED OF COURSE). KEEPER HIT ON THE 300' DROP. THE PUP HIT AROUND 250'. TIRED AS HELL THIS MORNING AT WORK, BUT GET A GRIN FROM EAR TO EAR THINKING ABOUT THAT DOUBLE HEADER. CHEERS.

   I think a rod and reel hanging over the window would not only look better to me but would have a use and there would not be dust on them.People would notice and compliment you more on the nice set up over the window and you could hang the pics of the fish you have caught on that rod from it.How trading spaces here I come

Youre right, last night was a good one. We hooked up in my 20' welcraft,Conch Girl, @ 7:20. Of course it was on my smallest reel, a tld 25,
and a nice fish we realized as it raced just under the boat. after 2 hours of battle the reels acting funny and then seizes up! what the f***, the things brand new. its still letting line out though so we didnt break her off and actually managed to stop her long enough to splice on to a tld 50. so now the 2 of us are fighting this thing being careful with 30lb tackle out there. i forgot to mention that since the begining we were also wrapped up with the other tip rod, another 50, somewhere near the leader. basically weve got our hands full and the fish isnt showing any signs of slowing down. Another hour passes and we have a light coming up. Just as it breaks the surface, the line breaks and all goes slack.Must have been the tangled mess that was coming up with it. We looked at each other like oh well, what else could we do. We sat down to pop a couple cold beers . I said to jerry, even though we didnt put a fish in the boat, for youre first time out here that was pretty cool.. just then a drag starts slowly clicking. huh? the 50 that was tangled up from the start was still
holding on to the line! Next thing you know were back in the fight with full beers rolling on the decks. Another 2 long hours of careful, exciting angling and we finially put the 61" beauty is in the boat @ 12:15. Truly epic night for us.
Cheers, Capt. Ben

P.S. I wasnt working that reel nearly hard enough for it to do that. Im kinda wishing i didnt own four of them.

5 hours is a long time on a fish that size, put more drag on them and they will come to the boat. Thats the problem with fishing smaller reels, after hours of pressure they tend to give out. Good job either way, nice to get them in the boat after all the problems.
