I've read mention of a "Bermuda Herring" which is more of a deepwater herring that roams the smaller lattitudes. But I havn't been able to find a photo or illustration of one. I'll keep looking.

Fish Identification Guide

Atlantic Herring Clupea harengus
Coloration deep blue green, silver sides. Spawning here occurs upriver, in areas around Batsto the fishing is good in early spring. Dual purpose as either bait fish or food. Superb bait for the larger sport fishes such as: Tuna, Dolphin, etc. Herring bait.

It does look however that some drunk was allowed to put a knifeto the side of that fish....swirving up and down the spine.
