Default 91 incher last night...

I can't believe no one posted this but here's the short story as I don't have all the details.

Guessing it was 400+ lbs and was caught on a 50W with a stand up harness... no rod holder. This was this guys FIRST billfish ever. A 3 hour battle and once the fish was in the boat, the angler was not hyped up!!! Since he had never caught a Sword, he didn't even realize what an accomplishment it was. He was ready for another one

Bobby Boyle was fishing with some old friend on their boat... marked the fish at 350ft and had them send a bait down to meet it. As they brought the bait back to the boat... the fish followed. Bobby tried feeding the fish boatside for 15 minutes. The fish was eating everything that it could and finally took the baited hook. Bobby took a few wraps of the leader and literally set the hook while leadering the fish. The amazing part is that the bill was lasso'ed and the 10/0 Owner hook point was only about 1/8 of an inch in the bill. The barb wasn't even buried!!! That says alot for staying tight on the fish.

I'm sure with Bobby's trademark slogan.... T..i...g..h...t being called out, the angler never let up!!! Line must always be moving... your reeling it in or the drag is screaming! If you rest... she rests!

Congrats to them for a great catch on standup gear!

-Tek

Um... rumor has it that the fish was lost near the boat after 3 hours. Reel seized up. True?

I would say NOT TRUE according to the huge Sword bill I saw or the funky fresh Sword steaks in my fridge

Sounds like a nice fight, I wonder what the angler was expecting?
