my friend from the west coast of florida called me yesterday saying he was going on a swordfishing charter with some of his friends that used to mate for a swordfishing boat. i was mad at first because i wouldve paid to go if i wouldve known, but no big deal. im not sure of the name of the boat or where it is out of but its near miami. he said it took almost 2 hours and 3 guys who took 2 turns each to bring it in(i told him he would get his ass kicked if he hooked into a good one). i thought 2 hours was quick but he said they were backing down on it constantly. it weight just under 320 and over all length was around 12 feet. im gonna try and get some pictures, the name of the boat, and the short length.
i just got a call from him while i was hard at work here so i thought i would relay this to you guys and see if you heard anything over the radio last night. |

Someone at the office here at work mentioned something about a BIG swordfish being caught last night. I was starting to ask, how big? I suspect she read about it in the newspaper because she is not big into swordfishing.
But haven't heard of anything through the fishing forum. |

That article in the Sun-Sentinel yesterday about trolling for swords mentioned a 225# fish. Good size, but not 300+.

 Always add to the size and weight of a fish. If you don`t, someone else will do it for you. Trolling with the lights out.

Someone needs to turn out the lights and go trolling. Hannaman says the big fish like it that way. I offered Woods Wall to W. Bran, but he is spending American dollars in Venezuela. The Swordfishing there has been around 2kps off a broadband connection slow. A whole fresh Tinker behind a Moldcraft Widerange and a 6"lightstick rubber banned 6-12` up the leader sounds appetizing to me. Just a strip of squid sewn together or tunny belly is better because the lure will run true. There is enough evidence for me to say that Swordfish are extremely light sensitive and that as these fish mature, they move to more Northerly , colder water locations. I can see why lights out till hookup could produce more slobs.

although that is a really nice fish, that isnt the one i am speaking of. i would def recognize the person in the picture, he is a good friend of mine. i forgot about getting the pictures but i will work on it. i doubt he knows the short length of it because he doesnt fish for billfish much.
ill get ahold of him and maybe he can get me the boat name and pictures. |
