Default Sword Report 12/28/05

We set up inside the 50 and several miles below the 00. Fifteen minutes into fishing and a nice swordie comes though our light. It was not a taker. We are ripping northeast 4-4.5 knots even with a sea anchor out. We had crossed over the 50 a while back and were around the 08 so we decided to pull up and reset. I was working one of the tip rods and it got nailed, just as I made 3 slow cranks on the handle. I'm tight and where is the designated angler with the harness. The fish dumps some line, not a lot and then the hook pulls. We decide to stay where we are for a little while longer and work the other tip rod.

About 15 minutes later an 8'-10' Mako decides to pay us a visit. It swims around the boat and sea anchor for a while, wouldn't eat one of our squids, it wanted the same thing we did "a nice swordie to chomp on." The mako finally swam off.

At the 10 and around the 49.5, we decided to pull in the lines and reset. as Tightlines was reeling in a flat line squid we sent out for the Mako, a nice lit up purple swordie following it in. The Swordie makes a few turns on the bait and then takes off, bummer. We sit there and work the lines for a few more minutes, but no luck, so we ran south and reset.

We had no other action and called it quites @ 12:00am. It was a nice night out there even though we did not boat a fish, we had some action. There is no place prettier in the world to be then offshore.

Cubanopeurto, Tighlines and Finalpoint (Kevin) it was great fishing with you all. We will catch a nice one next time. Dave, thank you again for the invite your 36' Palmetto is Swweeeet .

Hey Swordslasher,

Did you used to fish out of Point Pleasant, NJ? I fish out of Crystal Point on the Manasquan River when I am up in NJ during the summers. During the rest of the year I live in Miami.

Justin

Yes I fished out of Clarks and the Mooring's from 1983-1988. Otherwise I was fishing out of Atlantic Highlands, Cape May and Glouster.
