Default SWORD REPORT 5/26/04

I got a call in the morning of 5/26/04 from Capt. Ken and he invited me out swording, but they were leaving early to do some deep dropping and I couldn't make it, BUMMER. I was JONESING the rest of the day because I wanted to get out swordfishing REAL BAD!
At around 3:45pm, 5 minutes after I told Denise my wife I would go to the swimming lesson for little Slasher at 6:00pm, who should call and invite me out swording that night but my "Chum of Chums Chummingwithchunk." We worked it out and I was going to meet him and Litigators Bro at Chum's boat at 7:15pm. My prayers have been answered, and my itch is going to get scratched .
I get to the Marina and unload all my gear into a very SWEET 29' Angler and we are off. Have to turn around, I forgot my RUMBLEFISH Swordlight.
We get the light and we are our way offshore FINALLY. Clear the inlet at 8:00pm and a quick 25 minutes we are setting up, I'm STOKED. Chum says "according to my records the bite will be at 9:00pm. At 8:59 the 250' rod goes off, we are in, Lit's Brother "Maz" has the rod and the fight is on. It looks like we have a nice fish by the way the rod is bending and the amount of line coming off the reel. Maz is doing a great job fighting his first swordy, but 15 minutes later the hook pulls. We reel in the bait and the squid is still on the hook and there isn't even a nick in the leader. The fish must of snag it's self and the hook pulled.
We run south again and reset. About 10:45 a balloon gets nocked down we reel like crazy no fish. We'll chum decides to move the tip bait up a little and as he is doing it BAM the bait gets hit. the fish swims to the boat and the line comes tight just as the fish goes under the boat. Not a big SWORDFISH, but it is a FISH. Maz fights the fish for about 20 min and we boat a nice 48 inch Sword. The fish was hooked in the side of the body and was bleeding like a stuck pig, there was no way that fish was going to make it, so we kept him.
First sword trip in 3 months and we went 1:2 HECK YEAH. Maz also caught his first SWORDIE and it had a sight orange tint to the meat.
I'm heading out tonight 5/27 with 2ndchance and Saturday and maybe Sunday night with Tiara43. GOTTA MAKE UP FOR LOST TIME.
