Late Report 11/21/09...
I had a friend come to town to do some swordfishing last sat nite and asked if he could bring this girl he is seeing....I told him lets just do this trip on our own but he insisted that she liked to fish so against my better judgement i said yes....strike one.....They show up sat afternoon around 2 both holding a beer...introductions are made, we talk a bit and I find out this chick gets seasick. ......Shocked I explain to her we will be 15 miles offshore rockin in the ocean in 1200' of water....I ask would they prefer to just wait till 2morow and do some sail fishn close to shore...she insists that with a little dramamene she will be fine....once again against my better judgement i agree and off we go.....(did I mention that when they got to my house I found out he met her on line only a week ago) ![]() .we clear P.E @ 4:30 and arrive at the grounds @ 5:15...set up on the 49.5 and drop down the first bait to 75'...set out the jug and prepare the next one...during this time my buddy and his chick are talking and she starts acting strange...at this point shes had a few beers and a couple vodka / red bulls....and all she keeps saying is WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT.....about that time the first jug gets hit and I'm tight for about 30 seconds...I finish getting things set and start the waiting game...it's around 8 pm and this girl is acting really strange...anything we would ask she just kept saying WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ..and being very loud about it....I start thinking to myself this is gonna be a short trip...about that time a cruise ship is passing about 200 yards away lit up like the fourth of july.. so I say check out the cruise ship.....her response ....WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT...I realize at this point it's time to head in ....my buddy knows it to and apologises for screwing up....not 2 minutes later I hear a splash off the bow of the boat....I look and this girl is gone...I run to the bow and she's treading water, I reach out and offer my hand thinking she has fallen in...she screams leave me alone I need to find my son ..??? ![]() and starts freestyle swimming away from the boat to the west...we keep screaming and she just keeps swimming away till we can't see her anymore....no hydroglow in the water...so it's pitch black...I clear the tip line that was next to the prop and head west where I last saw her...I go about 20 yds and cut the motor off..jump on the gunnel and start screaming for this girl...I figure at this point she's been in the water 2 minutes....I jump down to look for a spotlight ....then I hear her say " leave me alone " I look up and barely see something about 20 yds off the bow....I start the motor and scoot over to where I saw her...cut the motor and my buddy yells she's right here...I run to the bow and he's got her leg and she keeps fighting pushing away from the boat...after what seemed like forever we get her in the boat and she attempts to jump over the other side...my buddy grabs her I tell him to hold her but don't hurt the crazy B__ch ...I bring in the 4 jug baits and start to head to shore..the whole time she is yelling at us wanting to go find her son...I tell her don't worry we'll take you to your son....So we start heading in and my buddy says I think we should call the coast gaurd this girl won't quit fighting me....I tell him this crazy B---ch is your problem once I get you back to shore...then I hear her say you guys are tryin to kill me...I back off the throttles and switch to 16 ....haill the coast gaurd and explain the whole situation to them...they ask what I would like for them to do ????? I say please advise ..??he takes my cell # and asks if I have a signal....he calls me back and we talk for a few minutes I explain we are having to restrain this girl from jumping over board....he says it doesn't appear that she is in danger if you can keep her in the boat....so I take his # so If i have any issue I can call him back or If I think we need the police involved....they definately wanted to be hands off on this one...O.K so I proceed back to the port and we manage to get back to the 15 th st ramp with no more issues other than my buddy having to keep this girl from jumping...In the nicest way I know at this point I tell the Crazy b>>___ to get off my vessel...I see her walk toward the bathrooms then lose site of her...we get the boat loaded on the trailer and about that time an unmarked car pull in front of us and 3 other officers walk up...they ask if we had some trouble 2nite and I say yes....I had some crazy girl jump off my vessel while swordfishing in the gulf stream..I tell him we called the coast gaurd and have there # if they need to verify.he explains that he over heard us call the Coast Gaurd....well evidently the Crazy did not wear off once she got back to shore so these guys knew we were telling the truth..they let us pull the boat to the wash while they question her and also ask us a few questions...( so how was the sword bite ?...) great bunch of guys.....So the officer that was questioning her came back and says she wants to take a cab to her car......I tell him keep in mind her car is in Tampa but if it keeps me from having to deal with this girl anymore fine by me....No longer my responsibilty...His thoughts too evidently...He gave us his card and says If my friend has any trouble when she comes to pick up her car have the TPD give us a call and we'll explain the situation... My understanding she came and got her car the next day...don't know how she got back and didn't really care...I'd say looking back on this I have learned some valuable lessons... The biggest one being TRUST YOU GUT ....I had bad feelings form the get go about this girl and should have backed out on the trip....We got very lucky just to find her out there since she did not want to be found....also made the right decision to call the Coast Gaurd and make the authorities aware of what was going on....All in All for a bad trip it turned out O.K.... After telling all my friends the story one of my friends here gets a call from a buddy of his that is in town with his girl and wants to go swordfishing...he told them he WON'T BE ABLE TO TAKE THEM THIS TIME....LESSON LEARNED... |

Wow
I was expecting a story about how she got sick and you had to turn back. What a trip. You did the right thing by callin CG to document it while it was going down. I can imagine what was going through your head: First, what if she croaked. Looks really bad. Recovered body, drunk and who knows what drugs the crazy chick ate too. Big investigation and civil suits against you for sure. Or, her version to the cops........These guys took me out.....got me drunk.....threw me over.......Tried to......Even better that cops were at the dock when you got back. Hope that's the last you'll hear of her. Last edited by 54bullwinkle; 11-27-2009 at 02:45 PM.. |

I had one similar one night, A guy though
One of my buddies and I were heading out, he asks if he could bring a buddy along, would be his first trip, never been swording before, sure, why not. We are out there, jugs are set, we are up in the front fumbling with the tip rod after a hit, its dark,no moon, just the glow of the swordlight around the boat, I hear a big splash and look around, his buddy is gone ! I start to freak out looking around in the boat, his buddy is gone ! I run to the back and look out and he is heading north bound just gittin it ! I start yelling for him to get back in the boat, He yells back and said, dude no worries Im a lifeguard ! I said I dont care who you are, get your A_ _ back in the boat now ! He keeps going and I am yellin, now hes out of the swordlight glow, all of a suddun he makes a turn and Circles back around the middle jug, Im still yellin to get back in the boat that there are sharks out here that will swallow you in one bite, He says dude dont worry I a lifeguard, Circles around the glow of the whole boat and comes back after about 10 min, seemed like an hour. He loved it so much he now became a buoy guy, go figure.

I will try to make this as vague as possible so the name of the subject remains anonymous. Was invited to go swordfishing with friends. While out, all become sick so I am the only one up. Finally, one comes out of the cabin and asks what I am doing. I was watching the radar trying to get a direction on a freighter that was within a couple of miles. I explained that and he proceeded to simply lose it. Kept saying..."they are coming...they are coming to kill me..." Starts screaming that we have to go, runs to the cockpit and cuts all lines screaming they are coming to kill me and we have to go. I get the boat lit off and home we go with him curled in a ball. There is a long story to this one but that is all I can say.
And believe it or not, there were no drugs or alcohol involved. |

Chronic Obs brings up a good point. Cant joke about this one.
What do you do if some funky stuff happens on your boat. There may not be witnesses and 2 very different versions of truth may be told. You can be sure that somebody will figure out a way to bring a civil action against you as well. As the vessel operator CO did exactly the right thing by calling CG WHILE it was happening. Thanks for the post CO..............Moose |

I agree 100%. If in doubt, call the CG. That way it is on record. As a Captain, your word is law on the boat while you are Master. I never drink while in command, and VERY rarely will I have even one beer while on any boat. This way I am completely clear if any situation arises. Safety is always the priority. Fish come later.

Yes!, thats what I wanted to know to Joe. Heh heh. I kept waiting for that part to pop up in the story.
One might assume that she must be smokin' hot for any guy to put up with that kinda sheet. Seriously though, you did the right thing calling the CG. She could say just about anything back at the dock and you guys might be in some trouble. Happened to a buddy of mine and his roommate who were arrested at gunpoint and taken to jail for kidnapping, due to the complete lies of a couple whacked young girls they hooked up with late one night. The chicks got messed up on something, "partied" with the guys, then went nutso late at nite when the guys tried to take them back where they picked them up instead of out to score drugs. They hung out the car window yelling that they were being kidnapped which set off a " Cop's" style take down, a nite in jail, a mug shot in the paper, lawyers fees, and a lotta trouble. While the charges were still going, the damn chicks show up at his house looking to party again! They were cleared when it went to the judge but it was costly.

we had a kid jump out of the pipewelders tower once trolling on the way out on my 42' hatteras... just kept going for about 200 yards to let them 'get the picture' so to speak. pulled all the lines in and said the trips over! he came so damn close to splating his head on the transom that day and missed the yozuri flatline.. add a crazy woman like you had and the stakes double...lol

Well since we are talking about crazy bitches , my friend met a girl fell in love went to key west a week later to get married, the night of there honeymoon she got so drunk she lost her mind called the cops said he was trying to rape her. it may have been the shortest marriage in history. When he called me to come bail him out I thought he was joking me as I had just seen him the week before and there was no wife? I had to call key west PD to make sure he was not bullshiting me. it took 6 months for him to clear his name and allot $$ . A true story !!
