Default Went for swords... Got Blue Marlin Palm Beach

Started off my day at 4am..Headed out for some tarpon fishing hooked 2 100lb class fish..Leadered 1 and other jumped off after 45minute fight..Landed a 30lb'is fish..

More on Tarpon in a recap planned..It was just part of a very long day and night..

I finished up with some tarpon and met up with Capt Tater,Jupiter Sailfish and BrandH

The plan was swordfishing,Rig up head out got set...

Pj Notices a creepin in the line..nothing unsual we figured a lil pup..He was coming in pretty easy..Then ZZZZZZZZZZZZZiiiinnnnggg...BrandH takes over and put on the belt..He got burnt and was feeling woosy..(Beer) :tooth: We saw what we were up against SPLASH! Its dark so we can't see..Tater hits the spot light and we see Blue! Marlin!!! Well BrandH took a break and i got in the harness..The fish sounded and went down atleast 1000ft straight down..I bumped the drag up but no good kept pulling..So i just dealt with it..After a while i was gaining line..I got back alot of line..Tater was anxious so he got in next..

We manuevered cleared the other floats got out some tangles.. :nilly: Well after about an hour into the fight the fish is just straight up and down... :nono: Tater would get line then the fish would sink? Well we finally got her up..She was tailwrapped and DOA.. :cryin: We were happy to all get our first Blue especially local but it was sad to see a lifeless big fish..So there was no option to release or revive..We gaffed the fish and pulled it aboard.. If the fish was healthy this would have been a sweet release.. Here are the pics...

Notice the burn on it's tail from the leader...

The Crew..

Pj has some very cool action shots of it jumpin with the aid of taters spotlight..Post them Pj soon..

Let it be CLEAR..We did not target this marlin..I would rather be munching on some swordfish..If it was healthy it would still be swimming..I see no reason to release a dead fish..We plan to smoke it and give out as much meat as possible..

24hr. fishing marathon ..I'm whipped...

Very Nice fish. At least you guys had some action. We fished till about midnight with only a couple of slashed baits to show for it. Brutal

Hey, don't feel bad about the fish guys. It's going to be eaten, and there's nothing you could have done. Awesome shots of the fish jumping. Bring some of that fish to Noi at Sushi Rock Boca and he'll do some cool stuff with it.

Thanks you can right click and save it..I don't know of anyother pic of a marlin jumping at night..PJ and the aide of the spotlight made it happen..

I tried marlin several ways Smoked, sashimi,Marlin jerky, and Marlin poke salad..

The smoked is great! Jerky uhmm i'll leave that to the Hawaiians..Sashimi is great! POKE is the BOMB! I got the recipe from Black Bart he whipped up a batch for dinner. It was a suprise i just came over to give him some fish.It was so good i got all the ingriedients from him and made it for my wife the next day..I gave out as much fish as i could and alot of people loved it..Most grilled it..I made dip to that is very good..

Nice job. A nice fish like that that arrives at the boat dead is perfectly fine for the cooler. Any weight info or LJF length and girth ? Nice fish.

No worries about taking it in mate. It's either you or the mako if its DOA. No sense letting the mako get off easy! Nice catch and an awesome fish to see on the ocean
