Default Fourth of July Daytime Report

Went out in search of a Fourth of July daytimer.... Left Port Everglades at about 9:00am. My brother and I spooled an extra 1,500yards of line on the LP on the way out.....and I am glad we did! Came across some nice weedlines on ride out and released two dolphin. Made our first drop and didn't get any bites. We reset and made another drop. Had the bait on the bottom for about 5 minutes when I started to crank it up... then suddenly line starts peeling out fast FISH ON!!! the fish peeled out a 1,000 feet of line on the first run!!! . When that happened I knew that we had a big one on. About 20 minutes into the fight the LP seized up and wouldn't work I looked at the Line Counter and we had over 4,000 ft. of line out! .... I was not going to let this fish get away so I started handlining it up. After doing that 30 minutes we decided to attempt to Cut the line and tie it onto my 80w manual crank setup

After succesfully tying it to the other rod the fight was on again. I harnessed up and fought it standup for a little while. Then my brother and I switched off and took turns. 2 hours and 30 minutes later I get the leader and My brother sinks the Flyer... Then we pulled an estimated 250lb. tail hooked sword into the boat After a long and complicated fight.

Had the same thing happen to us on a fish the other day but we just kept pushing the reel. Then hand lined it on the wind on.
