Default 8/18 report

Finally got out there with Mike, the creator of this website (one which has helped me a lot in fishing) and my brother and I also convinced my Dad to come along (he has only been twice and never gotten one). Set up for sunset expecting a hot early bite but not too much happens. By the end of our first drift we had a couple slashing victims, but nothing pulled drag. Reset on 02 and 49.8 about. Nothing seems to be working so I go up to the bow where a deep tip with a squid is. I drop it down further and crank it in a tiny bit. I begin letting a little line out and the line starts creeping off faster than it should. I push the drag forward and the fish is tight (this is around midnight on the 07 right on the 50 line - bite was maybe around 500 ft). We get Dad set up and he fights the fish for not very long. A quick leader and gaff and a very stocky 53ish inch fish is in the boat. The second one on the new boat and the first for our Dad. Another great night out on the water.

I had fun! Thanks for getting me out there.. can't beat the weekday fishing Although there were probablly a dozen boats outs there or more..

I think we heard of a 80inch plus fish caught, someone broke off a big mako, and another fish in the 150 range.

The SWORDLIGHT produced again www.swordlights.com

Hey glad you guys got on a fish. Mike you look scruffy bro. I got the Swordlight in white. I'm gonna have to lay my cards on the table though. We got a fat 150 lber just after 1am. 2 strong bites for us and 1 in the boat. I'll get the pics up in a minute.

James Nicholas fought this fish 45 minutes harnessed in on a Tiagra 80 wide w/ 16 lbs of drag. 68 inch length, 42 inch girth. This guy was loaded with squids.

Great fish, Cary! Ours did not have one thing in its stomach, and the one I caught on Saturday during the tourney had no squid but was full of snake mackeral.
