Haven't posted anything in while and was wondering if I could get a few questions answered? Have any of you guys fished for swords out of Ponce Inlet, Canaveral, St Augustine? I have heard many people talk about them being caught up here but not too much on this forum. Seems like most of you guys are down south and it is a lot easier for you guys to get out there and get them. We have to run at least 40 miles to get to the stream. Once out there what kind of bottom structure should we be looking for (pretty flat)? Or do you just figure your direction of drift and set out the lines? What kind of depth should we key in on? Thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks for the reply. Talked to several people in the area and they also said that they are here. Last year I heard a guy on the vhf say they had one that was close to 300 lbs on board.

Bubba, yes, we do catch em out of St. Augustine. In fact, I am probably going the weekend after the 4th. Long ride, we start 70+ from the inlet. Unfortunately, no slobs are caught like down south. Catch a bunch of very small fish and release them.

Jags thanks for that info. Hopefully the the weather stays nice. That's a long haul. Very familiar with having to run 40 - 70 miles to fish. If you do go after the 4th send me a message. I'll see if I can get a crew together.

Went last night. Caught a bunch of big sharks. "Might" have had a nice sword on but pulled hooks after about 15 minutes. So we struck out. A buddy went 2 weekends ago and caught a barracuda on his sword bait. Fishing for swords in NE Florida continues to be poor. That statement is not based on this weekend but based on the number of swords caught in NE Florida the last 4 years. Rarely do you even hear of a fish over 100 lbs here.
