Default 1/1 0n the11th

Kevin K, myself and Jacksonville steve left the marina around 6:30pm. We picked up a few runners and headed to the sword grounds. We set up around the 25.55 and the 79.48. The spread was perfect 4 squids and 2 runners. After around an hour and a half the tip rod starts screaming. Since Jacksonville Steve has never fought a swordfish he is harnessed and ready to go. The fight goes back and forth for at least 45 minutes when we see steve finally start gaining on the fish, another 10 minutes he is in the boat. A georgous 60in fish with his belly full of squid. We reset up and drifted for a couple more hours no more bites. Good luck all in the tourney this weekend.

Sweet job. That could very well be a contender size fish in tomorrows tournament... Good luck to those in it.

Default a fish door in the middle. Hmmmm.

Albar1:

Good job on that fish. Thanks for the report.

Did you get the swordfish with the live bait or a squid?

A friend just got a 28' ProCat a few weeks back and it looks just like your boat setup from the picture. Looks like you have one too. Or is that your boat Kevin K? How is it driftfishing in the Stream with that hull design?

We have yet to get his decks messy with swordfish blood. But hope to have a picture just like yours some day not too far from now.

Hay RT, That is indeed a 28ft pro cat. It drifts great because it's hull, you really hold position. I just ordered 2 days ago the 37ft pro cat sportfish. As far as your question on bait it hit squid 65 ft down. Let me know when you wanna come join us but be advised we stay out late.

Default Two cats in the house?

Calabunga... Albar1:

Consider yourself advised... I would love to get out swordfishing with you sometime on that multihull: you're really twisting my arm if you're going on a 37' sportfish Cat. You may not know me very well ( and I have no idea what Kevin K may have told you) but I absolutely love multihull cats! So I may be torn between two pleasures, swordishing or simply fishing from a Catamaran. It has been quite a spell since I last spent much time on a multihull. But I have such great memories and experiences from adventures on my friend Adam's boat, a 12 m Catalac. We never went swordfishing though, I think is was closed off. It was SWEET; albeit one of them thar "Blow-Boats". As a matter of fact that brings up the story of my forum handle. The name of his boat was RiskTaker - London. After he sold the boat and the new owners re-named the boat to Vanessa, or something to that effect, I took ownership of that "name" to keep the spirit alive and applied it my Grady White. The Grady White is now gone too. But due to all the great memories I keep the name sake going until I am into my next powerboat. Hmm, I wonder what I should call her?) In the meantime, I am content to have my sailing vessel PorgeeRock: it is fun for the family and kids. Just that I am always keeping a sharp eye  to get out on the swordfish grounds in a vessel that can cruise just a weee bit faster. But you may see a slob on her deck one of these nights. There is the occassional run from Miami to Hillsboro Inlet that just beckons a long drift over the swordfish grounds.

P.S. - if you're fishing the Swordlords tournament you may need to be registered tonight at the captain's meeting. I suspect you may need your vessel permit along with fishing licenses per angler, along with the the $250 entry fee plus any Calcutta funding of interest.

I guess you don't need any luck, you are already fired up. But have fun and look forward to fishing with you at some point. RT
