Default Swordfish fishing trip with Video 11/15/08

YouTube - SwordFish fishing trip out of Haulover 11/15/08

I decided to try out my brand new X-Generation rods last night and headed out with Jason (Dreamcatcher) and his brother in law.
Caught a few livies out headed for the grounds with 2'-3' sea conditions. Started setting out the spread right after sunset. First bait in the water was a live leatherjacket down 125'(those swords eat everything). We come tight for about 5 mins and the hook pulls. Felt like a smaller fish, but you never know early. Set the entire spread out this time and soon after the last bait was set, I see the tip bounce on the 125' squid. I pick it up, do a slow retrieve and we had fish number 2 on. About 20 mins up pops the sword, looked a little questionable so he was pulled in for a measurement and released to fight another day (tapped out at 43"). About an hour later with the conditions deteriorating we spot the 300' squid strobe swimming on the surface out in the distance. I grab the rod and wind like crazy but could not come tight before the squid was dropped. We ended up having 3 other slashed baits(2 squids and 1 runner) before there were solid 5'ers breaking everywhere and decided to call it a night around 10pm.
