Good Job on sticking it out until 4am. HOw long did it take to haul her in... I'm assuming not too long as it is still dark out.

Very Very Nice Fish, but I don't think 255lbs. I have caught several fish that were 75" and 1 was weight on the scale at LHP Marina and went 215lb so that is my starting point. It was caught by Bullfight last year 12/23/04 pictures are in the 200lb club and gallery, and it was a very nice fat Pumpkin. The other was caught down in Miami and we estimated it back then at 210-225, that was before we actually weight one approx. the same size.

We got one on my buddy Arnies boat which was 74" and it weight in at 206. I not putting your fish down definately a great catch, but it looks like every other 75" caught in our waters, again nice fish and good going on a great swordie. Welcome to the 200lb CLUB.

Scott,

I understand your skepticism but I think the fish may have even been heavier than 250. We gutted it, cut the head tail and all fins off of it so we could fit it in the cooler and ice it for a few days. The fish weighed 221lbs dressed out like that. The head weighed 14 lbs without the bill and the tail section weighed 12lbs. Add the guts, bill and all other fins and its anyone’s guess. but definitely at least 255. My buddy made me post 255lbs so we could never be accused of exaggerating. Hard to tell from a side view but the fish is fat. I know this has nothing to do with weight but look at the length of the bill. Definitely an unusual fish.

I am 6 feet 245 in the third picture and both guys are 6 feet or close to 6 feet tall. In the 4th picture we are all 6' tall or more and all and well over 235 lbs. You got a great fish there, but a 73" fish at 255+ possible again nice fish

second thing dont let a Guy like swordslasher get you down,I have watched this forum for a long time and seen him throw up some picts of some fish that He claims He caught 200+,and like what He said above, several that HE caught that were 75" from what I have been told,He may have been along for the ride but didn't catch one of them.He is what I call a POSER.Take a look at that 4th pict he threw up,I say 150 maybe !

Like I said, I understand and appreciate the skepticism. I am fairly new to the Swording game and have been a part of boating 13 Swords to this date the biggest one before this was 170lbs. My fishing partner however is World class and has an impeccable reputation. It is what it is, 221 pounds dressed, 26 pounds of tail and head and anyone’s guess what the bill, guts and other fins weighed. I do not lie.

Thanks for al the support even yours Slasher I know you mean well.

p.s. I could even be wrong on the length. We only measured it once with a tape that went to 60 inches. We were very busy laughing and slapping high fives.

I see that you have to hide behind a silly alias, you can't even be original with that . You are right, I was along for the ride. But I can tell that you don't do alot of swording, or you would know swording is a team sport, from rigging baits to setting the lines, coming tight on the fish and handing the rod off, coaching the angler, sticking and boating the fish. Put all those together and everyone on board worked hard to catch and boat that fish. I have participated in catching/boating 158 swordies since 1974 and personally I have only reeled in 5.

I have seen big fish and rats caught, and can call the weight of a fish pretty good. they have a nice fish there, but I don't think it was 255+ if it was only 73 inches that's all. Still a nice fish regaurdless.

John Doe, I have nothing to lie about, I have caught a lot of fish in 41 years. For me it isn't about the size or quantity of fish caught, I did that when I was a child, now it is all about being out there and having fun and hopefully getting a fish. So, there everything is out in the open, I got nothing to lie about, have a great day .

Save some for the Hydroglow Tournament this Saturday. As Drew says, "DEAD AT THE DOCK" and we'll do the weighing

Seas look smooth all week...

Good Luck to all!

Hey Mike, you may need to take up a new positon in life as a swordfish weigh master to alleviate any tensions that develop. Just station yourself at every inlet every night and weigh any fish that comes in.
Come on guys, enjoy fishing for what it is and lets not make a peeing contest about every post.

Hey Guys ! I have a hanging scale in the truck . It goes to 300 lbs in increments of 5 lbs. Anyone gets a GIANT and wants to weigh it and isnt too far they can contact me. The scale and a digital camera is tough evidence. Ps. I'll take the pic but YOU gotta hang it ! Haha !! Digital camera in the truck too. Randy

Hey LegalLimit , Im not being sarcastic about the scale ! I have it right here and a digital camera and am offering to weigh and take the pic to anyone with a BIG fish that wants an exact weight (within 5 lbs) It was a serious offer. I think anyone who can get out in this crazy weather safely and catch ANYTHING right now is doing great. Im not gettin up at 3 am but if your at 15 st ramp and it's 7am+ i'll be happy to run over quick and you can hang it (that tall sign next to the cleaning table we find works well) and i'll snap a couple photos of the fish and SCALE weight!
No Prob....

NO PROBLEMO ... I do underwater video/photography and know size can be extremely deceptive depending on angles. If everyone has to prove size or the fish is discounted I might suggest a simple high resolution digital pic of the fish with the scale reading visible and someone holding the front page of the local newspaper to prove the date. In all fairness If someones word is to be doubted the same rule should apply to everyones catch. Personally your word is good enough for me . It's not a world record for big money or something , It's just for fun.
You gotta trust people sometimes.
A friend (he's gone now) once told me "Randy , If a good friend borrows 10 bucks from you and you never see him again it's probably a good thing."
I dont need the pic , I beleive you .
