Reef Donkeys how about this Rig Donkey. Maybe some oil and gas platforms off the coast of Florida might help. Over here we have not been Swording as of late , daytime fishing is on . Caught 4 blue in the last 9 days and many wahoo to boot.

Cool Rig Donkey

thats a ball buster for sure bro Most of the ones that size you see come from the spear. Its backbreaking wenching ones that size away from the structure. Nice Work That fish would make a great big batch of fish dip

I thought the same thing. I was under the impression that when they get that BIG that most of the stomach is full of worms anyway....

Lure Aj worms, Big'ens got'em for sure!

The worms are not in the stomach . The worms are in the meat it self the ones I have looked at for the most part were located. In the back 1/3 of the fish base of the tail area. As far as ciguatera it is for the most part unheard of in the western part of the gulf. Do to the fact there are no living coral reef other then the Flower Gardens. Witch is 200 miles away and not very large in size. Any way we gave it away to some people that are not so picky on the type of fish they eat. They were thrilled to get it and none of it went to waste. We dined on tile fish and wahoo.
Any way hope you guys get a good push of Swords soon so we can get back on topic. As you know in some parts of the world the worms are a delicacy. HA! .But not here.

Its not worth risking getting Ciguaterra. If you are going to eat any of the fish that are high in the reef food chain and concentrate it, I strongly suggest buying some test kits. When you consider the health implications, its cheap insurance.

I got Ciguatera 20 years a go from grouper (called coral trout) caught in the middle of the Indian Ocean. All I can tell you is it is NO FUN and can be fatal. An IV treatment of Manatol was all that helped me get rid of it more quickly. It's really weird when you lose the difference between hot and cold and picking up anything cold feels hot and vice versa. That's the stage after all the gastro problems and muscle aches and pains.

If ANY fish might even be in question release it rather than taking a chance. A lot of us fish the islands and should be aware that the farther south you go in the Bahama chain the more prevelant Ciguatera is. I will not retain a black grouper over 15 pounds and be really careful about the big cero mackeral that are there now. Almost all of them are Ciguatera tainted.
