We fished the spur saterday night and went 0 for 1 with what felt like a big ol' girl. Had a spread with one 4 pound hardtail behind a purple LP light, and a red squid behind a LP disco light. At around 11 pm the the hardtail was picked up and the 80 wide started screaming off. The fish managed to come up 200 feet to the surface and swim right around the boat in about 10 seconds. I was so damn excited I flipped out and pushed the drag a bit to much as the reel was screaming off uncontrollably. Needless to say this pulled the hook out of her mouth. Bummer, but still a great sight to see the rod double over and drag ripping. Is there anything better than the sound of an 80 wide getting spooled?
