We set up our first drift at around 8:15 1200'.The drift was north northeast.I set out my deep rod too 400' and my tip rod down 200'.The other rods at around 175' and 250'We waited till dark to put out the lite we covered about 2 miles the first half hour When the deep rods gets hit It was a sold strike so I take the rod from the holder set my 80 to strike and start to reel feels like a good fish. The other crew clear the rest of the rod while I take up the fight The last rod is being reeled up through the lite when a second sword follows it to the boat he stops and lets the sword play with the squid in the lite while we take some video its a small fish only about 30-40 lbs but it was the first fish we have had in the lite free swimming My fish is about done. He jumps about 50 feet from the boat and the sounds one last time taking about 100 feet of line bring him to gaff and over the side my 4th sword of 2005 50 inches and only about 80lbs We later find the leader was wrapped around the fish and the hook never broke the skin I think he spit the hook when he jumped and got wrapped up in the leader. We cut the stomach open and found two squid and two tinkers. We drifted the same area two more times and called it a 12 to go catch some mangroves. They where hungry too caught 17 and 1 mutton.
