Default Fishing Matanilla Reef area?

Has anyone tried fishing the area northeast of the corner? Going over there in two weeks to try and get some tuna and do some deep droppin, but was gonna hold up for a few hours saturday night to try for some swords. Am i wasting my time?

Dont know if you are wasting your time but you are pressing your luck if you keep any billfish caught in Bahamian waters. Its forbidden so be careful!

Yeah thanks for the heads up. I am aware of the rules and had some people that wanted to catch some tuna on the other side and figured once the sun got up in the sky try to catch some mahi and maybe run in for some yellowtail. i just wanted to put my boss on a sword, i havent kept one yet, and didnt plan on it. We're heading out of ft pierce. You know of anywhere along the east wall maybe on the weay back to set a couple hour drift up? Not so close to bahamian waters?

But if you're far enough off the bank... get the harpoon ready.

I've actually been considering doing a similar trip.

Back in the 80's I worked from Matanilla Bank to Hole in the Wall with a PLL. Swordfishing can be excellent at times. There are plenty of Big Eye's and Bluefin as well.

I would not hesitate to give it a try.

Vinny, correct me if I am wrong but you are talking about fishing east of the Abacos down to the southern tip and Not north or west of mantanilla shoals

That Mantanilla Shoals is way out in the middle of nowhere. Would be interesting to fish.
