Default Sat Night 2-2-08 4/4

Had Quack Quack, his nephew Cory, and the other Eric on board. Got out a little later than planned(sorry) and quickly ran into some big skippies out in 700 ft for some early rod bending. Played with them for awhile and then ran to the area we wanted to fish. Had lines in just after sunset, and not 10 minutes later I come tight on the deep tip. We get out angler Cory on the rod and just then the middle jug takes off, now we got a double. Cory quickly winches the first fish up while Eric stays tight on the other. A quick release of a 47 incher, and Cory is strapped into fish number 2. After a brief fight a 51 inch fish comes up and is killed. Reset the rods, and before everything is out, the long screams off and Eric comes tight. Cory is back in the harness and fish number 3 is in the boat at 52-53 inches. Right when our angler thinks he is getting to rest the middle jug takes off, I get tight and pass the rod. A 53 incher is boated and its only 8:00 and we are 4/4. Decide to hang around and eat dinner. No more bites for a half hour so we packed it in early. Although we did not catch a 400 lber like everyone else , we had fun. The weather was awesome, the fish chewed, and we had good company

A few pics

Some neat fish found in one of the swordys.....anyone?

Nice job kid, we were a pathetic 1/3. Fish was probably 50" in overall length, cute though. I was enjoying the suspense of the 8 hour battle going on from 3pm. Unfortunately it was a thresher that couldn't be kept. EPIC battle though for sure!! Hats off to the capt. and crew.

Those small fish look like juvenile barrelfish, but I can't be certain. One feature of barrels is that they have no scales on the head above and forward of the eyes. I don't supposed you saved them, eh? hahaha
