Nick:

What do you mean?

He said the dudes were cool. After the fight there was no way he and his wife and small kids could hoist it.

Was he supposed to pay them, cut off a chunk, take them out to dinner?

I have helped people at sea several times and it's always been unconditional.

Rob is a stand-up guy. I am sure he thanked them.

Don't know all the details but maybe your friends are actually the iceholes.

Laters.

Well the way I was told it went down was when asked were he caught the fish and on what the guys that helped were told he could not tell them They stopped fishing and helped him haul that monster over the side. Then they were told thanks now get off the boat I am sure the guy is a great guy and it was a great catch and he was tired but he could have told them the details so to speak.Maybe he was nervous with his family on the boat or something but he could have told them about the details. I was not there so do not get mad at me just what I heard.

Quack. You are a gentleman. Appreciate the thoughts. I was not there either. Rob is a good guy and maybe things went down that way. I don't know and hopefully it's water under the old bridge.

Thanks!

I'm glad I wasn't on the boat.... that would have burned me up! ESp when he said "now get off the boat". Hopefully the karma will come back and bite him in the rear. Not the kind of Captain I would charter.
Hopefully that was a one time deal for your brother in-law and not the kind of person he really is.
Regardless of it all, my buddy Ryan still can't believe how fat and long that fish was! And on a tld 50!

Guys, I am not going to get into a "tit for tat" with you. I will say, however, I don't want Rob bad-mouthed.

Robert certainly thanked the guys and even gave them his cell number if there was ever anything he could do. They never asked about where or how he caught the fish. They took pics, chatted a little and left. He did not kick them off the boat either.

So the karma comments are bull crap and unnecessary. Rob's a guy who's an old time Pompano fisherman and has overcome a lot of unfortunate challenges in life. He's been fishing swords since the beginning of the fishery and I have a tremendous amount of respect for him and not only because I am married to his sister.

High tides.

It is all good Capt Juan.I am sure it was just one of those misunderstandings that happens. There are always 2 sides to every story.

He wasn't an azz hole. I was on the boat when we requested assistance to bring the fiah in the boat and Ryan on Reel Fast replied. We went to Ryan and was very careful not to disturb his lines and thanked him. The guys took pictures and Rob gave them his cell number because one of the guys is having trouble with his motor and Robert is one of the best outboard mechanics around. We never asked or told them to get off the boat. It was awesome these guys helped us. Neither Robert nor I are arrogant enough to think that we could have done that ourselves. Robert told them if they ever need anything to call him and he would help as he would with anyone. It is no secret as to where or how we caught the fish on the 48 line, squid at 150' deep on a 2 speed 50 wide stand up. It must have been karma coming back at Rob to land a fish that big and the only crew he had was is family. It was a great night. After being married for almost 19 years to this guy who loves to fish I am beginning to understand how you can get hooked!!
Take care and Good Luck Guys!

1st off and most impotatntly, That is one helluva fish caught on rod-n-reel by a crew of man, wife and kids. Just absolutely AWESOME in my opinion!!! Everyone should just mind their own business. I heard from #### who heard from ##### that wasn't even there. yap yap yap or should I say quack quack quack. Ryan whom I don't even know came to aid in the landing of this beast, my hat goes off to you!!! That was an awesome jesture that I'm sure won't be forgotten! If he had anything to say, he would have said it himself here, but he didn't. So why all the gossip. Sorry, but I just HATE the crap by the same people on here ALL the time and is why I stopped posting along with many others. Yeah I know....I hose fish, sell fish, steal, cheat and whateva else. I think many people here see the truth anyways so it doesn't matter. CONGRATS ON A NIGHT OF A LIFETIME!!!!!!!!!

Darren we had already moved on so why are you stirring the pot?Go back and read this all again. If you do not like the yap or quack don't bother even reading this site then.Nobody was talking about you so why even bring your drama in to it?
