My older Bro was in town from Texas for the holidays and I convinced him to go swording. He is cowboy all the way and hasn't spent much time on the water, on the ride down to Jupiter he asks "What does a swordfish look like?" So we meet up at the ramp with ALW and the ex-swordfisherman turned duck hunter Beerman.
It was nice to get Beerman out on the sword grounds for his first run since the time change Set up off Jupiter around 6ish and it took about 20 minutes for Neg Nancy to show up. We stay sharp and start to check baits after an hour. While my bro is reeling he asks Duck boy if these reels level wind and duck boy replies "They ain't no abu garcias" after checking baits we decide to make a run a little deeper. After the move the bartender, ALW gets to work and the tervis tublers are full Sure enough I start to hear some positive Patsy talk out of Beerman after a couple drinks. Now my bro the cowboy is on the backseat and he's not saying a whole lot so the duck hunter tells him to touch the rod to put some luck on it. About twenty minutes later cowboy yells, somethings hittin that rod! Sure enough it took a couple whacks and the now ex-duck hunter Beerman is on the rod and has the fish alongside in about 90 seconds. (He tried passing the rod to my bro who wanted no part of it) Zack says the fish is dead so ALW proceeds to slide the fish in the boat but it was no dead duck. After she does a number on my jigging rod ALW has the fish subdued and my bro the cowboy is stoked to see a swordfish. We are a little bummed that he didn't get to see a fight and a fish pull some drag (He thinks this is easy now) so we reset for about 45 minutes then head in about 10:30. Fish taped out at 51 inches, not a monster but is feeding four familes for a few nights. Felt good to put Duckman on a fish and renew his faith. As always a fun time on the water. Heard another boat on the radio from up this way (Vero) Hawg Dawg had a fish in the boat as well.
