Default Recreational Handlining

I would like to ask if anyone on this forum recreational handlines for swordfish?

It is legal for recs to do it, as long as it is still attched to the boat. In other words, you can;t attach it to a buoy and let is float free. But you can use a buoy to help you fight the fish. People have been telling me they want the experience of fighting a fish by hand, if so why not do it on your own boat?

Mano y Mano.

This thread should be in General. Wrong forum. Sorry

Up until Nov, a rec guy was able to have free flosting buoys like you, Nov is when the rule changed and they had to be attached to the boat.

And Im not positive but believe there was no limit on the number

Prior to Nov I didn't see it as a problem myself, I only knew of 1 guy doing it.

I believe that If you are allowed 35
I should be allowed 5 , I know this is not equal acess, but If I decided to leave the rods home one night and go back to the basics like the old man of the sea I should be allowed to just like you.

I dont see every rec fisherman running out and buying 5 buoys, None did when it was leagal to do it, I dont know why they would now. I think most would still rod fish, I, on the other hand would do it once in a while just to break things up, im not saying every trip, but maybe 1 out 5 to break things up a bit.
