Default AYE AYE to that one!

Has anyone asked NMFS why they do not make recreational landings public information like they do commercial landings? It could be that it is just a part of the same problem they have had for quite some time i.e., by the time the data is published it is out of date and not much use to anyone because by then a radical change has occured that researchers simply ignore. Anyone that has spent a lot of time on the ocean knows what I am talking about...dramatic,almost in the wink of an eye change in numbers and ocean conditions including weather, etc. Then again you could be the Magnusen thermometer for all we know. Arise! Slay and eat! Call your fish in and stay within the law because that is the right thing to do. If there is one thing all recreational fishermen should take to heart it is to know and understand that the Magnusen Stephens Act was written to maintain a healthy and sustainable US commercial fishing industry. Before the giant conglomerates were invested in commercial fishing, there were a lot of little guys out there selling to small buyers for the most part. Gentlemen, the herd has been culled and only the lucky/ influential survived to the present. The number 787 has no meaning to me because it does not indicate in any way what its true value is without published data to interpret. Ask NMFS to turn on the Hydroglow.

In my 3yrs+ of swordfishing, the majority of my fish have been undersized and released. Maybee, if by reporting the majority of the swordfish population is juvenile, it will prevent longliners from being allowed back....??
