Hey all, let the hazing begin:
First time poster and actually a first time reader of this particular forum. I googled underwater swordfish lights and ended up hooking up with Tek after a few phone calls today. Thanks, Tek for all the information and purchase of the green swordlight with a cigarette lighter adapter.
I live in Tampa, and am a 35yo competitive fisherman for kings in the SKA. A few friends of mine have rented a house in Summerland Key (mm 25ish) for a week in March. I'm bringing the Penn 80 and the 3 Shimano 30W LRS for some swordfishing a couple nights. A few questions for the experts.. if any want to share the secrets:
1) I use Roff's reports for most fishing that I do. Is this report which is based on sea surface temp, current, etc., a good source for swordfish?
2) The 200 and 300 come pretty close together around the 15 lat line down south, but all I read about is the 50/50 which refers to the lon line up north where the 200 and 300 come close. Anybody got any other good starting advise for the southern keys besides the 15 lat line? Any humps, etc that I should know about which would be good to align the drift?
3) Since I'm not an expert on rigging squid, I purchased 12 pre-rigged from baitmasters. I have LP strobes and lights which I will set on the swivels (not going to respool with windons)... colors?... combos?
Thanks in advance for all the advice to help pop the cherry! This is the only billfish that I have left..
