Default Large Squid??

I am looking for large squid. 18inches and larger. Being that we are in Louisiana they are hard to come by. We can get 10-14 pretty easy but any bigger and they become very scarce.Any ideas? Thanks!

MGFC,
I live in Tampa and ordered some large unrigged from Baitmasters.com as well as some rigged. They arrived yesterday, and they are all 16-22 inches long.

That place you're thinking of no longer sells to private anglers. Need to have a commercial or business license of some sort.

MGFC, when you're talking about size, are you talking about mantle length, or total length (including the arms/tentacles)?

Bionic sells flats to commercial guys for cheap not sure about rec supply or cost for you. The other place you're talking about is called floribbean. They only sell to commercial guys and even we have a hard time buying baits from those guys. Bionic is the easiest and best/cheapest way I have found as of now.

I taught him everything he knows! COŅO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not really! BUT... He does remind me of me! An Old School fisherman with a New Age flair! He's a damn nice guy too!

I've got to admit that his baits are beautiful. I wish Devon and I could make ours that good, but we only need to catch fish, NOT catch fish and the publics eye!

Pretty work, DL

Go to your local asian market. They eat them. The ones in my area carry the jumbo squid this size or better.

But I have given up using jumbo squid for swordfishing. First, most of the time, they just get slashed and don't get the hookup. Second, I've never seen jumbo squid in our waters, just 8-12 inch size so now I match the hatch and use that size.

But your asian market will probably have the jumbo and they are much cheaper than bait/tackle shops.

Default Be smart

Buy a large quantity as a group like the commercials then keep them in a freezer
at different shops for everyone to purchase less expensive. Heck I am on a 100 trip adventure. Ill buy in for the right price. I have access to air freight forwarding and a massive homedepot size freezer here.
