Question Pacific and atlantic swordfish

I was reading an article in some Big Game Fishing Journal and read something that made me wonder. are the pacific swords in as much trouble as the atlantic swords? i know how low the atlantic swords are, but it sounded like the pacifics were doing fine. Did i just read that wrong or is it really true?

Actually, Swordfish are doing very well world wide.

The Pacific stock is for the most part a long range fishery and the quality of fish below 35'n is not desired by many East Coast Brokers. Simply there is more money in tuna than swordfish, so the stock is not targeted by many vessels.

California imposed a longline ban many years ago, but gill netting and harpooning still occur during a short season. It does not amount to a lot of fish, the quailty is excellent.

Willie, Check tomorrows Federal Register, there will be a Xmas gift for you.
