WENT OUT AT ABOUT 1 TO A WRECK IN ABOUT 130 FT MYSELF AND 3 OTHERS. GOING DOWN COULD SEE THE BLACKS HOVERING 20 -30 FEET AWAY FROM THE WRECK. AT THE SAME TIME NOTICED SHARKS ALL AROUND. WHEN WE HIT THE BOTTOM NOTICED THAT THE SHARKS WERE ALL BULL SHARKS.. ALL IN THE 200 - 300 LB CLASS. wE KNEW THE SHARKS WERE THERE SO THE PLAN WAS TO SHOOT 2 BLACKS IMMEDIATELY UPON HITTING THE BOTTOM AND SURFACE WITH THE FISH. MANAGED TO SHOOT ONE IMMEDIATELY DIDN'T KILL HIM WITH FIRST SHOT SO HAD TO GIVE HIM ANOTHER SHOT THIS ONE RIGHT THROUGH THE GILLS. TOOK A SHOT AT A SECOND BLACK AND WAS MET WITH A BULL SHARK IMMEDIATELY UPON FIRING THE SHOT. CAME TO THE REALIZATION THAT WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SHOOT ANOTHER BLACK WITHOUT HAVING TO FIGHT IT OUT WITH A BULL SHARK. WHILE SURFACING I COUNTED 6 OR 7 BULL SHARKS CIRCLING THE WRECK AND EASILY 15 OR 20 BLACKS ALL AROUND THE WRECK IN GROUPS OF 2S. tHE ONE THAT MADE IT TO THE SURFACE MEASURED OUT AT 38 INCHES.
LATER HIT THE REEF LINE THAT DROPS FROM 50 - 70 FEET AND SHOT 16 HOGS, 1 MUTTON, 1 SPANISH MACK & 1 MANGROVE. PRETTY GOOD DAY, CAN'T WAIT TO HIT THE WRECK AGAIN SOON. |

Bull charks
I'll never forget the run in I had w/ a biggun in the gingerbreads. Stole my hog snapper, and tree'd my cousin and I on a coral head for over an hour. Nice report.

They are ornery critters. Really spooky diving w/ them in murky water. Had one with an affinity for porgys around the boat sunday. Dammdest thing. Snappers coming over the rail left and right, and this bastard was waiting under the boat, and only poaching the porgies

after you shoot a fish or several fish, you have a lift bag or noodle that you fill with air to send you catch up to the top. obviously someone needs to be following your bouy in a boat to receive the lift bag. i have used them several times when i am spearing on wrecks south of hillsbor. inlet.....very sharky around there....lots of bulls

More than once we have had to answer the request of the local dive boats to make certain wrecks once again safe for democracy by removing the bull sharks. Unfortunately we often would end up breaking them off and probably just making them more grouchy than they already were :/
