Smile The Latest from Captain Ed

You all have probably heard about the walk that happened just after Faye. I caught it the first day and it was incredible. I just felt the lobstering was so incredibly easy it would be irresponsible to post it on the net. These amazing creatures took a lot of heat just from word getting out. Every fill I got it was the talk of the dive shops. The first dawn I followed a line of Lobster for an entire 100 tank. It was 3 or more bugs thick with clusters of 30-100 every 50-70 yards. I never saw a walk that thick. (Vis was total shit. 1-3ft.) The closest being after Andrew. I swam the line and while I could have limited out in less than 5 minutes I just went after size. I had two of my six that could not fit in the hole of my lobster bag. The next day the line was very broken up. When you would go to pluck your bugs they would scatter. The first day they would sit there and not move a foot. It was as weak as hunting gets... The third day the bugs moved off the sand and got under ledges and structure. Even then I could limit out in less than 1/4 tank. After those three days they were gone! I dove several inside spots. The only bugs there where very sparse... only a few shorts or egg bearing females.

I moved way outside in the following days and managed to get my 6 with a lot of hard work and skill. The bugs are bigger out deep consistanly but you have to work your azz off to get them when they're not around...

Today I got two dives in. The vis outside was good and i got some nice Muttons and a really nice Hog. The second dive I burnt a 100 bone dry in shit vis and managed to get my 6 and a shovel nose. They were around but waaaay in the ledges and hard to catch! I missed 3 or 4 and caught two shorts. I lost my gun chasing one that pissed me off and 20 minutes later i managed to find it! ... Captains Luck

With Ike approaching which should be weak as hell from Cubas mountains kicking it's azz it's time to get morning surf sessions in again and take a break from the diving...
