I started in 100' and worked my way in to 50'. I got the red in about 60' long shot. When I took the shot at the biggest freakin mutton i've seen in years I could only get within 25' and I missed (close though). I went to retrieve my spear and as i looked over to my left I saw the biggest hog of the day, 5 ft from me. He sat there and nibbled on the reef as i worked quickly to reload and as I got the last wrap of my line on he bolted... It was one mad minute. I guess the bigger fish don't get that big from being as dumb as the rest...
