Default Post-Wilma Key Largo Report

Hope everyone made it through the storm alright....my buddy and my house got very lucky up in boca and made out with only a few minor damages/water leaks.

We came down to key largo to escape the power outages and get in some fishing. Water on the edge was murky as expect so we decided to put in the hook at a few bottom spots that have been hot after other 'canes had passed through.

First spot was about 67' with a trickle of south current. Proceeded to chum heavily and got about 10 really nice yellowtail .5lbs up to about 3lbs. Then the ballyhoo came up thick in the slick along with the mackerals. Both were thicker than fleas....so we caught about 8 mackeral for pitchbaits for the coming summer.

Moved spots to a lil bit deeper about 95'. Speedos came up well so we caught about 15-20 of them and fired a few down on our 50lb rigs....2 jewfish, ~40 and 80lbs. Then 6 black grouper smallest was 15 largest was 38lbs. Yellowtails came up pretty nicely and caught about 6 or 7 more all 1.5lbs+. We didnt catch one 'tail under 16inches. Sent down a few lighter rigs with ballyhoo plugs and got 3 small mutton snappers for the box...

The Ballyhoo are thicker than i have ever seen on the edge...whenever this dirty water moves out and the current picks up we're going to have a dynooooo-mite sailfish season!!!
