Wow ! What a day we had today. In fact, for the past two weeks it has been on fire when it comes to fishing between Sarasota and Boca Grande.
Today we stuck to our game plan of seeking out new bottom between Stump Pass and Boca Grande. Beautiful weather, seas that were actually in the ballpark of what the Weather Guy said and it was game on !! Hit the 45 ft mark to start off and quickly found a great bait supply holding just off the bottom and also in the mid depth range. We've been playing around with Bomber's new CD 30 lure in Red and White. Next to a Stretch 30, you can see the obvious difference in the action. The action at the rod tip is night and day between the Two lures and with Power Pro 65 lb test, we had it bumping bottom at 50 feet, no joke ! We worked this area and pulled two Gags off it. Worked out to 68 ft and found a nice rocky area that was holding countless 10-15 lb Red Grouper. We don't normally Troll up too many Reds, but they were jumping on the Bomber like Crazy, and no, Bomber does not sponsor us ! It's just a great Lure that I think will quickly replace our Stretch's. Steady Gag and Red Grouper on the Troll. Picked up two decent Kings on the Bomber and one on a Rapala Magnum up near the surface. Tons of Bonito as well. All in all, a great day. Fish Cookout and Football with friends tomorrow, doesn't get much better folks !! Feeding Frenzy Sportfishing and Boating Academy, Teaching You to "Fish Smarter, Not Harder." ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice catch.
Red and white has always been my go to lure in the Gulf. I have an assortment of Stretch 30's, but i usually grouper dig off of 2 down riggers. I find I can control my depth better that way and down size my lure if needed. Of course I'm usually in 70-80 ft of water too in the northern gulf. d-a
