Default Stuart SKA Kingfish Brawl

Stuart SKA Kingfish Brawl

I fished this weekend on a Chris Thomas’ boat Hold em Hook in the Stuart SKA Kingfish Brawl. To say that we had a great weekend would be an understatement. Team Hold em Hook consisted this weekend of me, Greg Haskin and Chris Thomas. We set out with a goal to get at least a 30 pound fish that would qualify the boat for SKA nationals in Biloxi, MS. We ended up doing way more than that, fishing was red hot off Jupiter with plenty of Dolphin and Sailfish but with us just looking for 1 big king everything else was a distraction. On our first drift we caught 3 nice dolphin and a sailfish and 2 small kings. On our second pass wee moved a little deeper and within 5 minutes we had a nice double. I was on a fish in the bow and Greg was on another in the stern. About 40 minutes later I got my fish boat side and it ended up being the 2nd place fish in the tournament a 56.52 pound king a real monster. The first place team edged us out by 1 ½ pounds with a 58.02 pound fish, congratulations to team Kalee. What a spectacular weekend to fish. I have heard nothing but great reports up and down the east coast of Florida.

I am heading out tonight for a little swordfishing and will try to update the report by the end of the week to let everyone know how the bite is off Jupiter. I have heard of a few nice fish over the last week or o but the wind has been keeping everyone at the dock. This week should be nice and I plan to take advantage of it. I do have dates available for swordfishing, if you have never gone this is the time to make it happen. I also have a few days open to fish the reef as well as the last phase of the Mutton spawn in the Bahamas. If you have never experienced this type of fishing it is something that you will not soon forget.

Till next time catch em up!!
