Default flamingo 7-6-07

started out with the intent of catching cobia at the wreck but its not the right time of year, figured we would try anyways. caught some pilchards/pinfish and headed out. as soon as we dropped the baits in the water we started bringing up goliath groupers, 1 after the other. majority of all weighing over 50lbs. then the sharks moved in, hooked 1 spinner and a 500lb goliath came up and tried to crush it. so i took this time to take some pics of mother nature in action .

headed to a snook spot, bite was slow for about 1hr. then suddenly it just turned on, we caught about 26 snook. all ranging from 28-32inches. for about 1hr the bite was red hot. live or dead bait, they were crushing em. it started to slow down, caught about two more nice ones and headed in. was a very good day. here are some pics, im big on always caring the camera to show visuals to go with the report

Ivan,

Great report!!! Looks like a great day on the water for you and the crew. Goliath's have recovered well, in some places too well . In some area's I understand that they have taken over enitire wrecks and reefs.

Personally, I would like to see the "powers that be" open the harvest of these groupers to one per boat per trip for Rec anglers and maintain the no sale status on commercial fishing. Currently it is illegal to even take them out of the water for a picture

Again, congrats on a nice day out on the water...

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that they open up that fishery a little. Must have been awesome to see That grouper try to eat the shark but you know what they say "pay backs are a *****" It was probably getting back at the shark for eating his little sister

Thumbs up Flamingo Bonanza

Phat azz report! Wish I could of joined ya Gorliath Joofishes sure are fun. I'd like a shot at the biggun, and a filet of the smaller ones. Think they ought to open a small tight season, and slot on em. My opinion is not based on any science though. Anybody know anything about the biology of these dinosaurz....
