Nice job Kurt!!!

You are about the only person that I know of who says they are going out to catch a mako, and actually catches one. You know, this isn't San Diego or Montauk. :razz:

Capt Sean didn't put on the "secret weapon" yesterday, but still had a nice fish on the 12/0. Lost him to tail frays on a 15 ft leader with no roll up. Maybe a thresher???

This is thankfully the last night of my Master's Upgrade and I'm done, so whenever you're ready to go again, give me a call.

Kurt to bad your not is California they hooked about 30 Threshers over the weekend and landed about 10. Some monster Swords were mixed in with the 30 plus pound giant squid. Must be some monster makos around as well. Here's a picture of a trolled bait O matic that went 250 lb. released. We got two more the same size that that and one 19' 900 lb.
Also released with about 6-8 other makos to about a buck and a half.

·Size, Age, and Growth
Swordfish reach a maximum size of 177 in. (455 cm) total length and a maximum weight of 1,400 lbs. (650 kg), although the individuals commercially taken are usually 47 to 75 in. (120-190 cm) long in the Pacific. Females are larger than males of the same age, and nearly all specimens over 300 lbs. (140 kg) are female. Pacific swordfish grow to be the largest, while western Atlantic adults grow to 700 lbs. (320 kg) and Mediterranean adults are rarely over 500 lbs. (230 kg). The IGFA all tackle record is 1182 lb. (536.15 kg). Swordfish reach sexual maturity at 5-6 years of age, with a maximum lifespan of at least 9 years.

Yep sure was, have done the same thing in the past that is why it struck me as funny. Some of the old post have great info in them.
